Welcome back to Big River Cabin! I haven't made a post here since Catharine turned 50. That's a while back—how far it would not be advisable for me to say. This is my first post of our cross-Canada trek and I hope to keep it updated with news of our progress over the next 14 days, when we're due to arrive in Vancouver.
The photo above shows the moving truck that took our stuff away. We don't get it back until the house on Bowen Island is built; we hope by spring. In the meantime, we have loaded up the recently purchased used Honda Odyssey with everything we'll need until then (including skis!) and are heading to Vancouver's beautiful Kitsilano neighbourhood—Dunbar and 6th—where we have rented a house for the duration.
For the last two weeks, we have been resting and recreating at the Hamilton family cottage on Georgian Bay—after which the blog is named. Robert Hocking and his wife, Vivian, just off the boat after 13 years in London, got back in touch with their Canadian roots, joining us at Norgate Inlet. The girls (Clara, Lily and Ella) are seen here enjoying my maple syrup oatmeal, which was demanded daily.
Here's a lovely shot of Catharine enjoying one of many amazing sunsets we've seen.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, 18 August, we set our sails and start the voyage on a western heading, first stop the Sault where we hope to have a visit with my Aunt Joan and will set up the tent in the KOA.
Thanks everyone for all your well wishes as we set forth on this adventure.
Richard & Catharine
PS: For those of you on Instagram, Catharine will be posting her photos here.

Looking forward to seeing you both in Vancouver. You will be down the road so to speak! Safe travels and continue to post your adventures.
